ABOUT
US
RadiDox,
a product of MediDox Corporation has roots in speech recognition
technology that extend back to the days of discreet speech
recognition in 1995. Ever since those early days, we have
worked to make speech recognition a useful modality for
physicians to use in documenting their patient encounters.
We have learned many things along the way.
We learned that speech recognition, when
used as the sole modality, has serious shortcomings. There
are two primary reasons:
| 1. |
It takes too long to enter all the
information necessary for a complete note by speaking
the information. This is also true for traditional
dictation-transcription. |
| 2. |
Speaking information into a computer
or Dictaphone does not organize that information in
such a way that it can be parsed and used again when
and where it is needed. |
It is important to note that these shortcomings
are not caused by inaccuracies in speech recognition.
They would still apply even if speech recognition were
100% accurate, which it is not. Of course, dictation-transcription
is not 100% accurate either.
As a result, in the summer of 2001, we
changed our focus from making speech recognition useful
to developing a technology that would enable physicians
to create complete patient records in the shortest amount
of time possible with or without speech recognition technology.
Our mission is to assist physicians in creating
and managing
complete patient records in the shortest amount of time.
Completeness is important for patient
safety, for physician protection, and for maximum practice
productivity and profitability.
Speed is an essential component of a successful electronic
documentation system. Physicians need to document more
in less time. When evaluating the speed of documentation,
we consider not only the speed at which the first visit
is documented, but the speed at which follow up visits,
patient reviews, referral letters, and colleague consultations
are completed.
As a result, in the summer of 2001, we changed our focus
from making speech recognition useful to developing a
technology that would enable physicians to create complete
patient records in the shortest amount of time possible.
In order to meet the challenges of completeness and speed,
we developed MDx Technology. Using MDx Technology, we
created the Ten Second SOAP Note. For simple visits, it
is now possible to create a complete note, write, and
send an Rx in ten seconds. Using MDx Technology, we also
created the Chief Complaint Specific SOAP note for more
complex visits.
Using MDx Technology, the physician is able to view patient
summaries, complete follow up notes, write referral letters,
and consult with colleagues more efficiently and more
accurately.
In 2003, we created RadiDox - based on MDx Technology.
Radiologists can now complete their case reports more
quickly and send reports to referring physicians within
minutes.
Our commitment is to continue to assist physicians to
improve their documentation practices for the benefit
of their patients, themselves, and the medical community.
